The button behind the wheel allows you to quickly change the pointer speed for different tasks: choosing a higher speed (higher DPI) makes the pointer move faster during normal use; choosing a lower speed (lower DPI) makes the pointer move slower and more precisely when drawing, editing photos, etc. Evoluent Mouse Manager provides extensive but easy-to-use functionality for 6 buttons through a simple and intuitive interface.

The thumb rest on the Evoluent Vertikal Mouse 4 has been redesigned to provide even greater comfort than previous versions. The new bottom thumb button provides significantly expanded functionality when used with the included controller. The backlit logo turns off when the system is in sleep mode to conserve battery life.

The Evoluent VerticalMouse was first evaluated in 2007 by a team at the UC Berkeley Health Services Clinic, including physicians, physical therapists, an ergonomics expert, and PC administrators. It has been found to be comfortable, easy to adjust and supports proper wrist, forearm and body posture. It was the only vertical type of mouse that was approved for staff use within UC Berkeley. Current models have also been evaluated and approved.
